until the user opts in. The toggle
drives device-tab routing, print

Tommaso Bianchi 9c3ce9b45e Design: clicking empty space lets go of the selection, and the status line follows its tab
Two things a click on nothing should already have done.

snaporca-od0. A click that hit no geometry left the solid selection standing. A
rubber band swept over empty space has always cleared it (pick_bodies_in_rectangle),
and the two gestures cannot disagree about the same outcome. The visible cost was in
the escalation that landed last commit: "click the face, click away, click the face
again" arrived as the SECOND click on the same face and took the whole body, when the
click away was the user letting go of it. Now the miss clears and says so.

This gives up something real, deliberately: Thicken / Shell / Draft hold their input
face in the panel's selection, so a stray click on empty canvas with one of those
cards open hands that face back. Their handlers already write the "(pick a solid
face)" placeholder and rebuild the ghost when the selection empties, so the card SAYS
it lost the pick rather than confirming against a face the viewport has stopped
highlighting. An orbit drag never reaches this branch — it exits at the 8px budget —
so panning the view still does not deselect.

snaporca-dlj. The status line is a wxPopupWindow, which is a TOP-LEVEL window: hiding
the Design page does not hide it. Select a face, switch to Prepare, and the chip was
still there reading "selected (whole body) — right-click for what applies to it" on a
tab with no such selection and no such menu. Same cause, second symptom: a status
update arriving while the page is hidden anchored against a client size that is not
the size the page will have, and parked the chip on the tab bar. So: an
IsShownOnScreen guard in place_status_hud, show_status_hud(bool) to take it down and
bring it back with its text intact, driven from the page-changed handler.

Verified on both rigs, not by reasoning about it: face 5 selected -> click bed ->
"Nothing selected", tint gone -> click the same face -> face 5 again, NOT the body ->
click it again with no click away -> whole body, so snaporca-gem is intact. Prepare ->
chip gone; back to Design -> chip returns. KEYTRACE across the round trip shows
shift+S then R still reaching the canvas (ui_mode 0 -> 1, Rectangle armed), which is
the focus theft this popup replaced a wxFrame to avoid.

Fork parity unchanged: DesignPanel.cpp 30, DesignCanvas.cpp 16, headers and
DesignSketchTool.cpp 0. MainFrame.cpp is outside that set and was edited per fork.

NoisyfoxandClaude 63044b7661 feat: Add layout debugging/inspecting tool (#14919)
* Add wxInspector dep

* Initial intergration of wxInspector

* docs: add wxInspector plugins design spec

Design spec for two wxInspector plugins (DPIAware + CustomWidgets) that expose
OrcaSlicer's custom control properties in the inspector property grid.

Covers: DPIAware scale-factor properties, Button, CheckBox, TextInput,
SwitchButton, ProgressBar, Label, and LabeledStaticBox.

* docs: add wxInspector plugins implementation plan

6-task plan covering: source changes to existing widget headers,
DPIAwarePlugin, CustomWidgetsPlugin, registration helper,
MainFrame/CMake wiring, and build verification.

* feat: add getters/setters for wxInspector plugin access

Add minimal public accessors to DPIAware (set_scale_factor,
set_prev_scale_factor, set_em_unit, force_rescale), Button
(GetStyle, GetType, IsSelected), CheckBox (IsHalfChecked),
TextInput (GetCornerRadius), and LabeledStaticBox
(GetCornerRadius, GetBorderWidth, GetBorderColor, GetScale).

* feat: add wxInspector plugin registration helper

Add RegisterOrcaInspectorPlugins() inline function that creates
and registers the DPIAwarePlugin and CustomWidgetsPlugin as
static instances (matching wxInspector's built-in pattern).

* feat: add DPIAware wxInspector plugin

Exposes DPI scaling properties (scale_factor, prev_scale_factor,
em_unit, normal_font, force_rescale) on DPIFrame and DPIDialog
widgets. Uses dynamic_cast for detection and a template helper
to capture the correct static type for lambda accessors.

* feat: add OrcaCustomWidgets wxInspector plugin

Exposes Orca-specific properties on 7 widget types:
- Button: Style, Type, Selected
- CheckBox: Half Checked
- TextInput: Label, Text Value, Corner Radius
- SwitchButton: Value
- ProgressBar: Proportion, Show Number
- Label: Is Hyperlink, Font Point Size
- LabeledStaticBox: Corner Radius, Border Width, Border Color, Scale

Each widget type uses dynamic_cast for safe detection.

* feat: wire wxInspector plugins into MainFrame and build

Call RegisterOrcaInspectorPlugins() in MainFrame constructor after
SetupInspectorAccelerator(). Add all 5 plugin source files to
SLIC3R_GUI_SOURCES in CMakeLists.txt.

* fix: move plugin registration to GUI_App::on_init_inner

Register plugins once in app init rather than in MainFrame
constructor, which may be recreated during the application
lifetime.

* fix: include plugin headers in Registration.hpp for complete types

Static locals require complete type. Include DPIAwarePlugin.hpp and
CustomWidgetsPlugin.hpp instead of forward-declaring. Also remove
unused include from MainFrame.cpp (registration moved to GUI_App).

* fix: qualify DPIFrame/DPIDialog with Slic3r::GUI namespace

* Make DPIDialog inspectable. For other dialogs, we will add them if necessary later.

* docs: add spec for moving wxInspectable into DPIAware template

Move wxInspector::wxInspectable base class from DPIDialog and MainFrame
into the common DPIAware<P> template, making all DPIAware widgets
automatically visible in the inspector tree.

Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>

* docs: add implementation plan for moving wxInspectable into DPIAware

Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>

* docs: update spec/plan — move SetupInspectorAccelerator into DPIAware too

Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>

* refactor: move wxInspectable and SetupInspectorAccelerator into DPIAware

DPIAware<P> now inherits wxInspector::wxInspectable and calls
SetupInspectorAccelerator in its constructor, making all DPIAware
widgets automatically appear in the inspector tree with the
Ctrl+Shift+I shortcut. DPIDialog now uses 'using' to inherit the
constructor. Remove redundant wxInspectable inheritance and
SetupInspectorAccelerator calls from DPIDialog and MainFrame.

Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix: use LB_HYPERLINK constant instead of magic number 0x0020

Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Clean up

* Fix Linux build

* Don't build wxInspector sample

* Use shallow clone

* Try fix flatpak build

* Attempt to fix build again

* Fix build failure caused by https://github.com/wxWidgets/wxWidgets/commit/436c16135ec7ddf580f44624bf74c592aae43b66

* wxWidgets build only download required submodules

* This should fix build on Windows on ARM

* Enable PIC

* Disable layout inspector by default for public release

* Use wxInspector 1.0.0 release

Tommaso BianchiandClaude Opus 5 8c6df84acc Merge upstream/main into cad-mainline (530 commits)
Catches the fork up from 449a4cf9fc (2026-06-28) to d6cb667b89 (2026-07-24).
Upstream touched 2326 files; 17 of them overlap the 164 this branch touches.

16 of the 17 auto-merged, including all three CMakeLists.txt, the build_all.yml
CI workflow, and every GUI file. The CAD core never conflicts: CadDocument,
SketchEngine, SketchSolver, McpControl and test_caddocument are files this fork
adds, so upstream does not touch them.

The one conflict, tests/libslic3r/test_3mf.cpp, was purely additive in all three
hunks and is resolved as a union: our test pinning that store_bbs_3mf embeds the
CAD recipe as Metadata/SnapOrca_cad.bin, upstream's multi-nozzle plate-metadata
round-trip tests, and both sets of includes. All three were verified present
after resolution rather than assumed.

NOT BUILD-VERIFIED, for a reason that predates this merge and is not caused by
it: this fork cannot be configured on nativedev at all. Its CMakeLists has
required Eigen3 5.0.1 since before the merge (line 592 pre-merge), while the
only deps image on the machine is snaporca-deps, built for snaporca's
find_package(Eigen3 3.3). CMake fails at configure, so nothing compiles.

That means this fork's Catch2 suite has never run. Every "suite green" figure
recorded for M1-M8 was snaporca's suite; the ports were verified by patch-apply
plus the CAD sources being byte-identical to snaporca's. Building an orca_cad
deps image with Eigen 5.0.1 is what would finally close that gap.

Pre-merge state is preserved at branch cad-mainline-pre-upstream-2026-07-25
(30d54f0074).

SoftFever 1551898846 Plugin-gate the reslice check and drop non-plugin leftovers
reslice() now enforces only the missing-plugin block via
refresh_missing_plugin_block (no second Print::validate); plate
ready-status returns to upstream's plain model_fits, matching
GLCanvas3D::reload_scene. Also restores main's use_bbl_device_tab and
the check_track_enable comment, and drops two unused MainFrame includes.

SoftFever 8cb0cb7693 Merge branch 'main' into feat/plugin-feature
Resolve five conflicts, all of which needed both sides rather than a pick:

- BackgroundSlicingProcess: ours was a pure tabs->spaces reformat of base, so
  keep main's per-filament volume/nozzle map read-back (its only change here).
- GUI_App: main's #12506 else-if attached to an `if` this branch deleted;
  re-expressed onto the same-agent early-return path (the agent factory caches
  per id, so pointer equality is the same predicate).
- MainFrame: both sides relocated Sync Presets independently; keep main's
  push_notification plus the branch's Plugins menu items.
- Tab: the "TODO: Orca: Support hybrid" blocks were unchanged base, not a branch
  decision; take main's enabled Hybrid to match the already auto-merged siblings.
- test_config: union of both sides' cases (6 plugin + 9 multi-nozzle).

Tommaso BianchiandClaude Opus 4.8 c618965a4c Add -DSLIC3R_CAD compile-time gate for the Design/CAD tab
Gate the entire parametric Design/CAD subsystem behind a single CMake
option so the fork can be built with or without it. With SLIC3R_CAD OFF
the build is behaviour-neutral against upstream OrcaSlicer; this is the
"parallel build" for upstream integration discussion.

Gated surface:
- option(SLIC3R_CAD) + add_definitions(-DSLIC3R_CAD)
- deps/OCCT/OCCT.cmake: BUILD_MODULE_ModelingAlgorithms=${SLIC3R_CAD}
  (OFF matches upstream OCCT exactly; ON adds only TKFillet + TKOffset)
- TKFillet/TKOffset link, add_subdirectory(slvs) + libslvs
- CAD kernel + GUI sources, GLGizmoPrimitive (needs GeometryEngine),
  CAD Catch2 tests
- 11 upstream C++ hook sites (GLCanvas3D, MainFrame, GLGizmosManager)
- TabPosition and gizmo EType enums switched to implicit numbering so
  OFF reproduces upstream indices exactly

Verified on behemoth both ways: OFF and ON link snapmaker-orca +
libslic3r_tests (exit 0); ON shows the Design tab and passes 8 [design]
+ 1 [Deviation] tests, OFF omits them and shows upstream's tab layout.

Tommaso BianchiandClaude Opus 4.8 4f8a0d133f Add MCP control surface (slice 1): socket server + describe/extrude
Predispose the Design tab to run under an external MCP agent. New
McpControl.{cpp,hpp} embeds a line-delimited JSON-RPC 2.0 server over a
Unix domain socket, off unless env SNAPORCA_MCP is set. Requests are
marshalled onto the wx main thread and run through the SAME CadDocument
kernel the GUI uses, via two thin DesignPanel hooks (mcp_doc /
mcp_after_change) — no parallel engine.

Slice-1 methods: describe_tools (introspection -> the bridge builds tool
schemas), describe_scene (feature tree + per-body bounding boxes), and
extrude (centred rectangle sketch -> new solid). Every op returns its
full post-state. POSIX-only; Windows compiles to a no-op.

Tommaso BianchiandClaude Opus 4.8 0f4060c0a9 Orca-Cad: port SnapOrca Design (parametric CAD tab) onto mainline OrcaSlicer
Grafts the sketch-first CAD environment from snaporca-cad onto the mainline
OrcaSlicer/OrcaSlicer base (vs snaporca's Snapmaker/OrcaSlicer base):
- 133 new files: CadDocument/SketchEngine/GeometryEngine/SketchConstraints/
  SketchSolver/SketchInference/ThreadStandards + vendored libslvs solver;
  DesignPanel/DesignCanvas/DesignSketchTool/SketchInlineEditor GUI; GLGizmo
  Primitive/Sketch; 75 design icons; Catch2 tests.
- Integration hooks ported to mainline's diverged versions: Design tab in
  MainFrame, embedded design viewport + sketch overlay + per-canvas chrome
  suppression in GLCanvas3D/PartPlate, gizmo registration, Plater accessors,
  CMake wiring (libslvs subdir, CAD sources, OCCT ModelingAlgorithms=ON).

Structural integration complete; build verification pending.

SoftFever 3e4af2c723 WIP: Add native Wayland support for Linux (#13197)
* Add runtime display backend detection for Wayland support

Add LinuxDisplayBackend utility to detect X11 vs Wayland at runtime
using GDK_IS_X11_DISPLAY / GDK_IS_WAYLAND_DISPLAY macros. This is
the foundation for removing the forced GDK_BACKEND=x11 and enabling
native Wayland support.

- New files: LinuxDisplayBackend.hpp/.cpp with get_linux_display_backend(),
  is_running_on_wayland(), and is_running_on_x11()
- Propagate wxHAVE_GDK_X11 / wxHAVE_GDK_WAYLAND from FindGTK3.cmake
  as compile definitions to libslic3r_gui
- No-op on non-Linux platforms (returns Unknown / false)

* Fix Phase 1 code quality: pragma once, source ordering, static cache

* Make X11 initialization conditional for Wayland support

Remove the unconditional GDK_BACKEND=x11 force that blocked native
Wayland. Replace with conditional logic:

- EGL safety fallback: re-force X11 only when wxUSE_GLCANVAS_EGL is
  off and WAYLAND_DISPLAY is set, with a warning log
- XInitThreads() only called when DISPLAY is set (X11 in use)
- __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME only set when DISPLAY is present (GLX-specific)
- WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE only set under XWayland (both
  DISPLAY and WAYLAND_DISPLAY present)
- Guard X11/Xlib.h include with __has_include for robustness
- Restore display validation to accept either DISPLAY or WAYLAND_DISPLAY

This is Phase 2 of the Wayland support plan.

* Fix Phase 2: safer EGL macro check, add clarifying comments

* Add GLAD2 library and replace GLEW linkage in build system

Set up GLAD2 as a static library to replace GLEW for OpenGL loading.
GLAD2 supports both GLX and EGL, which is required for Wayland support.

- Create src/glad/ with pre-generated GLAD2 sources (GL 4.6 compat)
- Add src/glad/CMakeLists.txt building glad as a static library
- Wire glad into src/CMakeLists.txt before libvgcode
- Modify libvgcode to use shared glad for GL path (keeps local copy
  only for GLES2/Emscripten) to avoid duplicate symbol conflicts
- Replace GLEW::GLEW with glad in libslic3r_gui link libraries

Note: GLEW is kept in deps for OpenCSG. Code migration from GL/glew.h
to glad/gl.h headers will follow in Phase 3B+3C.

* Fix Phase 3A+3D: libvgcode GLAD include, dead files, dlopen dep, OpenGL link var

* Migrate from GLEW to GLAD: replace headers and API calls across codebase

Replace all #include <GL/glew.h> with <glad/gl.h> across 49 source files.
Migrate GLEW API calls to GLAD equivalents:
- glewInit/glewExperimental -> gladLoaderLoadGL()
- GLEW_EXT_* / GLEW_ARB_* extension checks -> GLAD_GL_EXT_* / GLAD_GL_ARB_*
- Remove GLEW-specific EGL/GLX mismatch #error guards (not needed with GLAD)
- Replace unavailable EXT symbols with core GL equivalents in
  GLCanvas3D.cpp (GL_MAX_SAMPLES, glRenderbufferStorageMultisample,
  glBlitFramebuffer, GL_READ/DRAW_FRAMEBUFFER)
- Update log messages from glewInit to gladLoadGL

* Fix Phase 3B+3C: remove GLEW find, clean EXT symbols, update attribution

- Remove find_package(GLEW) block from root CMakeLists.txt since GLEW
  is no longer linked by any main application code
- Remove "glew" from SLIC3R_STATIC option description
- Replace all remaining EXT framebuffer symbols with core equivalents
  in render_thumbnail_framebuffer_ext and _rectangular_selection_picking_pass
- Update AboutDialog credits from GLEW to GLAD

* Enable EGL in wxWidgets and add runtime GLX/EGL selection for Wayland

- Set wxUSE_GLCANVAS_EGL=ON in wxWidgets build and Flatpak manifest
- Add PreferGLX() call on X11 sessions for driver compatibility
- Remove Phase 2 safety fallback (EGL is now always compiled in)
- Guard SwapBuffers against hidden canvases to prevent Wayland stalls

* Fix Phase 4: move PreferGLX to app startup, fix FPS counter guard

Move wxGLCanvas::PreferGLX() from OpenGLManager::create_wxglcanvas()
(static initializer) to GUI_App::on_init_inner() before any wxGLCanvas
is constructed. This prevents a race where SkipPartCanvas could trigger
wxGLBackend::Init() before the GLX preference is set. The new location
also adds explicit is_running_on_wayland() detection with a warning for
unknown backends.

Move increment_fps_counter() inside the IsShownOnScreen() guard so FPS
is only counted when a frame is actually swapped.

* Update GLFW from 3.3.7 to 3.4 for runtime Wayland/X11 backend selection

Replace the compile-time GLFW_USE_WAYLAND flag (which locked to a single
backend) with GLFW 3.4's GLFW_BUILD_WAYLAND + GLFW_BUILD_X11 flags that
build both backends and auto-select at runtime based on the available
display server. This enables the CLI thumbnail renderer to work on both
Wayland and X11 sessions without separate builds.

* wayland: Fix UI call sites that rely on global screen coordinates

On Wayland, wxGetMousePosition() returns (0,0) and SetPosition() is a
no-op for top-level windows. Fix the highest-impact call sites:

- GLCanvas3D: Use cached m_mouse.position from event handlers instead
  of wxGetMousePosition() + ScreenToClient() in get_local_mouse_position()
- Plater: Use event-relative coords via ClientToScreen(e.GetPosition())
  instead of wxGetMousePosition() in 3 leave-window handlers
- BBLTopbar: Use event.GetPosition() and FindToolByPosition() directly
  in mouse handlers instead of wxGetMousePosition()/FindToolByCurrentPosition()
- Search: Use focus-based dismiss logic on Wayland instead of
  wxGetMousePosition()-based rect checks in SearchDialog and
  SearchObjectDialog
- GUI_App: Skip SetPosition() in window_pos_restore() on Wayland where
  it is a no-op; still restore size and maximize state
- Button: Position tooltip relative to button widget via ClientToScreen
  instead of wxGetMousePosition()

* Fix SearchDialog Wayland dismiss: guard against search_line focus

* flatpak: Add Wayland socket permission for native Wayland support

* spec

* Fix crash on Wayland when wxWidgets lacks EGL support

Restore the safety fallback that forces GDK_BACKEND=x11 when wxWidgets
was not built with wxUSE_GLCANVAS_EGL=ON. Without this, the GLX backend
tries to access a non-existent X11 display on native Wayland, crashing
in wxGLCanvas::IsDisplaySupported() with SIGSEGV at offset 0xe4.

Also add a defense-in-depth guard in detect_multisample() that skips
the IsDisplaySupported call entirely on Wayland without EGL.

Root cause: deps/wxWidgets must be rebuilt after enabling EGL. The
compile-time check in OrcaSlicer.cpp detects the mismatch and falls
back safely.

* Fix EGL detection: use wxHAS_EGL instead of wxUSE_GLCANVAS_EGL

wxUSE_GLCANVAS_EGL is a CMake build option, NOT a C++ preprocessor
macro. The actual macro defined in wxWidgets setup.h is wxHAS_EGL.
All compile-time EGL checks were using the wrong macro, causing
the safety fallback to always trigger even with a properly built
EGL-enabled wxWidgets.

* Fix GL function pointers invalidated on Wayland/EGL

gladLoaderLoadGL() dlopen's libGL.so.1 to resolve GL function pointers
via dlsym, then immediately dlclose's the handle. On X11/GLX this is
fine because the GLX context keeps libGL.so mapped. On Wayland/EGL,
nothing else holds libGL.so open, so dlclose unmaps it and all function
pointers become dangling — causing SIGSEGV on the first GL call.

Fix: on Wayland, use gladLoadGL(eglGetProcAddress) which resolves
function pointers through the EGL loader without opening/closing
libGL.so.

* fix crash on start and various rendering issues

* fix crash on close

* small refactor

* move GPU selection to desktop file

* clean up a bit

* clean up more

SoftFever eefdabcd98 Fix maximized window not filling desktop after wxWidgets 3.3.2 upgrade
wxWidgets 3.3.2 changed MSWGetStyle to add WS_CAPTION when
wxMINIMIZE_BOX/wxMAXIMIZE_BOX/wxCLOSE_BOX is set. This caused
DefWindowProc to subtract the caption height in WM_NCCALCSIZE for
maximized windows, shrinking the client area and creating a gap
above the taskbar.

Fix by handling WM_NCCALCSIZE for the maximized case explicitly
(strip only border overshoot, not caption) and removing the now
unnecessary wxEVT_MAXIMIZE workaround.

bb30999673 Add support for Draco (.drc) format (#10681)
* Add read support for Google's Draco (.drc) format.

* Fix build on Linux

* Use boost instead of fstat.

* Switch to boost memory-mapped file to save RAM and potentially improve performance.

* Trim trailing whitespace.

* Initial Draco write support.

Currently always exports with 16-bit precision and speed 0 (best compression).
The back-end function does have arguments to specify them, it's just not hooked into the GUI.

* Add Draco to the About dialogue.

* Fix Linux compile (hopefully)

* Add an option to associate DRC files on Windows.

* Implement a Preferences option to set Draco position quantization bits

* Update src/slic3r/GUI/Preferences.cpp

Co-authored-by: Ian Bassi <ian.bassi@outlook.com>

* Some slight changes to ianalexis's suggestion.

* Implement a create_item_spinctrl() function for numeric inputs, and use that instead of create_item_input().

* Move "bits" to inside the spinctrl box.

* Refactor following yw4z's feedback

* Update src/slic3r/GUI/Preferences.cpp

Co-authored-by: Ian Bassi <ian.bassi@outlook.com>

* Change to 0 bits as the default setting for Draco export precision.

* Change to a lossy checkbox and a bits field with a range of 8-30.

* Proper SpinInput code from yw4z

* Revert "Proper SpinInput code from yw4z"

This reverts commit 7e9c85f31a.

* Revert "Change to a lossy checkbox and a bits field with a range of 8-30."

This reverts commit d642c9bcc0.

* Redo preferences based on SoftFever's feedback

* Refactor to minimize code duplication

* Fix padding

* Improve Draco export quality level tooltip clarity

Clarify that 0 means lossless compression (not uncompressed),
document the valid lossy range (8-30), and better explain the
tradeoff between file size and geometric detail.
